Getting Started
We want to welcome all of you who are interested in taking an online class from Los Angeles Valley College. This section has been created to give you assistance in successfully completing an online class.
Step 1: Are online classes right for you
This is a very important question you should ask yourself. An online class requires slightly different skills and personal study techniques then a traditional face-to-face class. An easy way to determine the answer to this question is to take the Technical Skills Quiz and the Student Skills Quiz. You should also take a look at the Things You Need to Know page.
Step 2: Find a class
To see what classes are being offered look at the Schedule of Online Class. Some instructors have provided Letters of Introduction to the class. These letters will give you a preview to your class. If you still have questions, you may email the instructor. For even more information, you can go to the "Instructor Web Pages."
Step 3: Registering for a Class
Once you decide on a class to take you must register for that class. If you have not previously enrolled at LAVC you will be required to do this first. The registration process is rather straight forward. You will need the Section number for the class that you plan to register for. The Section number is listed on the Schedule of Online Classes along with the other class information. More information
Step 4: Logging into Your Class
After you have registered for you class, you will need to login to the Etudes system for all your course work, course questions, course documents, and assignments. You will not be able to login to your class until the class has started. You can login to your class by click the "Class Login" link located in the upper right of this page. More information
