Dear Online Student,

Welcome to Principles of Healthful Living, section number 7021, Fall 2008.

This online course will take place using ETUDES NG, Easy To Use Distance Education Software – Next Generation.

Please review the information on Los Angeles Valley College’s Distance Learning website at
http://www.lavc.edu/virtualvalley/online1.htm   where you will find links to course information including required materials, login instructions, Technical Requirements and videos on How to Login, Navigate within Etudes, Read & Post in the Discussion area.

This class begins Monday, September 2nd, 2008. Students will not be able to access their course before the first day of class. Those who have not logged in and participated by Friday September 5th, 2008 may be dropped. Students who are dropped might not be reinstated.

On September 2nd, 2008, you may access your online class by logging in at this URL:

http://etudes-ng.fhda.edu/portal

Your login ID is the first 2 letters of your first name + the first 2 letters of your last name + the last 5 digits of your Student ID Number (not your social security number).   If you do not know your new Student Identification Number you can look it up using the Student Information System (SIS) at http://www.laccd.edu

If this is your first ETUDES NG class your password is your Month and Day of birth. However, since NG passwords are permanent, if you have already taken a NG class your password has not changed. Many students who have taken NG classes from us earlier have the password “student”.

Example: Juan Straub, 88-459-0210, born July 4
* User ID: just90210
* Password: 0704

After you login you will see a list of the courses you are enrolled in on the top menu bar to the right of My Workspace. Just click on a course number to access a course. Once you have entered the course, use the left-side menu to navigate the course.

If you have trouble accessing the course on or after September 2nd, 2008 click on the Technical Requirements and Frequently Asked Questions links at http://www.lavc.edu/virtualvalley/online1.htm  where your issue is likely addressed. If not, contact the LAVC Distance Learning Program Office at (818) 947-2614 or via email: lamperma@lavc.edu.

Remember, you will not be able to access the course prior to September 2nd, 2008 so you will not know if you have a login problem until then. Do not share your login ID with anyone.
