Thinking of Teaching Online?

This Etudes Basics tutorial will introduce you to Etudes -- "Easy to Use Distance Education Software." Etudes is the Course Management Software (CMS) LAVC's online education program, Virtual Valley, uses to teach all our online classes.

This tutorial gives you a brief look at the exciting possibilities available to you when you choose to incorporate online learning into your classes, whether you want to "Web-enhance" a traditional class, teach a hybrid-online blended course (where some of the classroom hours are replaced with online hours), or teach a class fully online.

This "Etudes Basics" tutorial shows you briefly how Etudes works and was designed to be viewed in about an hour or two.

All instructors who want to teach online are required to take a fun, easy, online training class (tuition is reimbursed by LAVC) to be authorized to use Etudes.

Additionally, any class you want to teach in either a hybrid or fully online format needs to have been approved for online instruction. For a list of classes that have already been approved check here: Approved Online Classes

For instructions on how to start the approval process for classes that are not yet approved (and get paid to get them approved!) click here: Online Course Approval Process.

Etudes really is easy to use, and more importantly, it enhances student learning. Since all students must participate in online activities, Etudes classes encourage the active and self-regulated learning we are all trying to foster in our students. For some of our students, online classes are the only option; for others, they are the best option.

To learn a little more about how Etudes works, including illustrations of actual class Web sites created with Etudes, enjoy this brief tutorial.
