Designed for the working adult student, VCAP is a program leading to Universitytransfer and/or an Associate degree. It consists of a unique selection of academic courses offered in an acceleratedformat. VCAP provides a means for “non-traditional” students to pursue an education while balancing work and family responsibilities. While each course varies slightly in terms of scheduling, most classes meet one night per week for two hours and four hours on Saturdays. Courses are conducted in eight-week sessions; two sessions per semester and one in the summer. Students may take up to two classes each session.

VCAP promotes student success by encouraging study groups, support through campus resources, and the assistance of a VCAP counselor.

BRIDGE to VCAP

Studies show that most entering VCAP students have not been in a classroom environment for many years. The Bridge to VCAP is designed to helpyou meet theprerequisites which form the foundation for academic success in VCAP.

Entering VCAP students are required to take an assessment to measure their current level of English and Mathematics skills and obtain a course placement. Bridge classes include English 21, 28, and 101/102, Math 112 (pre-algebra), Math 115 (elementary algebra), and Math 125 (intermediate algebra). These classes afford students the opportunity to upgrade skills necessary for dealing successfully with the academic rigor of VCAP.

Bridge classes are offered on an ongoing basis each accelerated eight-week session. To view current Bridge courses, click here.
