Study Away in Alicante, Spain - Summer 2012

PROGRAM LEADER

 

Rafael Arias in SpainDr. Rafael Arias is a native of Spain. He holds a B.A. in English from the Universidad de Santiago in Spain, an M.A. in Spanish from the University of Kansas, and an Ed. D. in TESOL from Teachers College, Columbia University. He has taught English and Spanish in Spain, New York, and Los Angeles over a 25-year career.

 

He started teaching at LAVC in 2000, where he has taught basic and intermediate Spanish, Spanish for native speakers, and ESL.

 

An avid traveler, he's been to Machu Picchu in Peru, the Iguazú Falls, and recently visited the glaciers in Patagonia. He travels to Spain every year where he loves discovering hidden gems off the beaten path, swimming in the Mediterranean, and eating Manchego cheese and gazpacho.
