Partial Shutdown of Campus Drive to Commence Construction of New Monarch Center Building
November 14, 2013-March 1, 2015
Beginning on Thursday, November 14, construction for the new Monarch Center will begin and will permanently shut down Campus Drive between Emelita and Hatteras Street. The estimated completion date for this construction work is March 1, 2015. The orange area in this illustration shows the fencing and construction zones for the Monarch Center project. As shown, the location for this project will be the area that currently houses the Cafeteria Building, Campus Drive, and the walkways adjacent to the cafeteria building. The work for this project will take place between 6 a.m. -4:30 p.m. The corner of Hatteras and Campus Drive will serve as the contractor lay down area. Construction Work in Math Science, Art, Emergency Services, Engineering, Behavioral Science, Foreign Language, Humanities, Motion Picture, and Music Buildings
September 30, 2013 – January 3, 2014
From Monday, September 30, 2013, through approximately Friday, January 3, 2014, there will be work done in the Math Science, Art, Emergency Services, Engineering, Behavioral Science, Foreign Language, Humanities, Motion Picture, and Music Buildings. Most of the work will be done in the Building Distribution Frame (BDF) rooms, the rooms that house each building’s server. The BDF room for the Behavioral Science Building will be modified and a new BDF room will be constructed for the Foreign Language building. This image shows the activity description and the timeline for the work to be done in each building. There will be moderate noise associated with this project due to the minor demolition taking place. Construction will take place between the hours of 6 a.m.-2:30 p.m. The contractor lay down area for this project will be the area south of CSIT-2, located off of Campus Drive behind Campus Center. Pedestrian Access near the South Gym and Monarch Stadium will be Closed Due to the Construction of the New Alumni Walk and New Home Side Ticket Booth
August 12, 2013 – March 28, 2014
Starting on Monday, August 12, 2013, work will begin to construct the new Alumni Walk and Home Side Ticket Booth; this project is expected to last approximately 229 days, ending on March 28, 2014. Pedestrian access will be impacted between the Aquatics Center and South Gym, and near the home side bleachers of Monarch Stadium, due to the construction, as shown in this map. There will also be noise, dust, and smoke associated with this project. The Alumni Walk work will be located in between the Aquatics Center and the South Gym, while the home side Ticket Booth work will be located near the Monarch Stadium home side bleachers, which are located near Hatteras Street. There will also be some sidewalk closures on Ethel Avenue and Hatteras Street. The illustration shows the yellow fence lines where areas will be fenced off for the work. Pankow, the contractor working on the Community Services Center, will be performing this work. Limited Parking on Ethel Avenue, Emelita Street, and West Hatteras Street Due to the Demolition of the Softball Field and Construction of a New Parking Structure
June 10, 2013 – April 11, 2014
Beginning on June 10, 2013, a new project will be underway which will involve demolition of the softball field to make way for a new parking structure; this project is expected to take about 305 days, reaching completion on April 11, 2014. During this time, there will be limited circulation and parking on Ethel Avenue and no parking on West Hatteras and Emelita Street. Pedestrian access will also be reduced on the walkways at Emelita Street and Ethel Avenue and there will be moderate noise from construction equipment. Both the Business Office and the adjacent parking lot will remain in place until the completion of the new Monarch Center, a project which will be presented in a future notification. Please note: The area within the intersections of Emelita Street, Ethel Avenue, West Hatteras, and Campus Drive, will be fenced off (with the exception of the temporary Business Office and the adjacent parking lot) and from December 2013-January 2014 both Emelita Street and West Hatteras Street will be closed as shown in this illustration. April 15, 2013 – September 22, 2014
Construction activities for the new Community Services Center will commence on April 15, 2013; the anticipated completion date will be September 22, 2014. During construction, Parking Lot E and part of Parking Lot L will be closed, and vehicle and pedestrian access around the project area will be limited. There will also be noise, dust, and smoke from construction equipment associated with this project. Fencing will be installed as shown in this illustration. The contractor lay-down area will be within the construction site.
