Professional Development Advisory Committee
The Professional Development Advisory Committee (a subcommittee of the Academic Senate) determines activities that qualify for flex credit and the number of hours allowed. We professional development offerings and the focus of the program, based on analysis of service outcome assessments. We are always looking for more members!
We meet on the third Thursday of the month from 12-1 pm in the PDC (LARC 200).

Summary of advisory committee decisions on flex
Flex should involve extra work beyond expected job duties — grading papers does not qualify.
Based on faculty requests, we agreed to the following:
Conferences = maximum of 6.7 hours per day
Additional committee service = a maximum of 6.7 hours per semester (except hiring, evaluation, or ad hoc
task forces = number of hours served, up to a maximum of 6.7)
Service Learning = 3 hours per class
TAP (honors) classes = 6.7 hours per class
Flex credit is not given for attending social events (e.g., the Dean's Reception, the Winter Holiday luncheon).
