Born in Versailles, France, Dominique Merrill is a native French speaker who has been teaching French for over 40 years. She holds a B.A. and M.A. in French from UCLA, as well as the Diplôme Supérieur from the Université d’Aix-Marseille. Inducted into
« Who’s Who Among American Teachers », Professor Merrill also spent a year teaching in Paris as a Fulbright Teacher Exchange recipient.
Prof. Merrill taught all levels of French for 15 years at Pierce College as well as elementary Spanish. In 1988, she took her first group abroad to Salamanca, Spain. Since transferring to LAVC in 1998, she continues teaching all levels of French and has enjoyed establishing the summer study away programs to Paris and Montpellier. This will be Prof. Merrill's ninth year as LAVC program leader to France.
