Born in the Bordeaux area of France, Denis Pra has been teaching his native language, French, for over 15 years. He holds a Ph.D. in French and Francophone Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) as well as a Master's in French as a Second Language from the University of Grenoble and a DEA (Diplôme d'Etudes Approfondies) in history from the University of Bordeaux. Dr. Pra has taught all levels of French at LAVC and has conducted seminars at the University level on French phonetics, business, history, culture and cinema in California and Illinois. He has also participated in various conferences on his areas of interest (French cinema and literature) and published research articles as well as interviews with several people in the film industry, including Jean-Claude Carrière, Harrikrisna and Sharvan Anenden, and Juan-Luis Buñuel. Dr. Pra is happy to participate for the first time in the summer program in Montpellier initiated by Prof. Merrill, who will continue collaborating with the Montpellier program after retirement as a professor emeritus.
