          from Los Angeles City Council

July 15, 2005 -- Before a live television audience and a packed council chamber, Council- member Wendy Greuel presented Lennie Ciufo with a Certificate of Recognition for his work with disadvantaged youth as well as his dedication to the community. The presentation was broadcast on channel 35 citywide.

Noting his success in bringing together the WorkSource Centers of the San Fernando Lennie Ciufo receives certificate from Wendy Greuel.Valley, Councilmember Wendy Greuel (second district) said, “Lennie has been the driving force in bringing great programs together. He started with the logical idea of combining basic job skills training with customized workplace training and today we have the very, very successful Regional Workforce Collaborative of the San Fernando Valley. In the last year, Lennie has brought together all of the WorkSource Centers of the San Fernando Valley to work together to achieve the common goal of keeping businesses in the Valley and putting people to work. Through his efforts, the WorkSource Centers have formed a collaborative that has placed thousands of displaced workers back to work. Businesses in the San Fernando Valley have been able to either stay in the city or expand their work-force because of the workshops and customized training he has provided.”

Amplifying these remarks, Manny Chavez, Director of Workforce Development for the City of Los Angeles said, “Lennie is one of the most innovative individuals I have ever met in the workforce development community. He works extremely hard to connect all of the resources in the community to provide living-wage, career-ladder orientated opportunities for city residents.”

While accepting the award, Mr. Ciufo told the audience, “Obviously, when they recognized me in a lot of different ways, they should have replaced ‘he’ with ‘we’ because…we work together as a collaborative.”

The certificate states in part, “Thank you for your tireless dedication to the community. You have made our city a better place to live, work, and play.
