Metro Success Draws New Audience

May 14 , 2007 -- In a ceremony held at the Inglewood One-Stop Business and Career Center, a class of 27 graduates has been awarded certificates of completion and now prepares for individual interviews with the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transit Authority (Metro).

The ceremony, sponsored by the South Bay Workforce Investment Board (SBWIB) and the Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services (DPSS) was attended by Metro officials that included Don Ott, executive officer for administration; Stefan Chasnov, director of human resources; and Aurora Jackson, director of operational training. Jan Vogel, executive director of the SBWIB, awarded the certificates to the graduates.

The Inglewood One-Stop Center is credited with playing a key role in the recruitment, screening, and training for the project. They were teamed with the Literacy Network of Greater Los Angeles, the Department of Motor Vehicles, DPSS, and Los Angeles Valley College Job Training.

“We’re all very proud of the success of this project,” noted Lennie Ciufo, Job Training Director. “The team from the Inglewood One-Stop Center, led by Barbara Hubbard, Dan Hansen, and Lazarro Inguanzo, did an outstanding job of recruiting for this project. The graduates are on track for an exciting career ahead, and hopefully will all begin working with Metro on June 11.”
