Since 2001, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has partnered with Valley College Media Arts to offer each year an exciting day-long conference, "Meet The PROs." Volunteers from the ATAS Educational Committee, who represent diverse areas of television production expertise, spend a Saturday at Valley College speaking with student in small,intimate groups about their experience finding and keeping employment in this vast area of the entertainment industry.

After brief introductions, student find seats at small tables with four or five other students and a television professional. They talk freely for about a half an hour then a charming bell is rung and everyone plays musical chairs moving to another table and the talking begins anew. (Don't worry, we don't take out chairs each round!) At the end of fours hours it's hard to stop, but we want everyone wanting more so they come back next year. And they do. |
