Emergency Response Plan Information
In the Event of a Hazardous Chemical Spill
If you become aware of a chemical spill or leak of hazardous chemicals immediately:
- Evacuate the area!
- Notify M&O at: (818) 947-2301, or college ext. 2301, or call the College Sheriff - (818) 947-2911, or College Extension 2911
- Move upwind and away from any fumes.
The M&O group will respond to cleanup of this type of chemical or will call an outside Hazardous Materials company to perform the cleanup. Under no circumstances should you or any other staff member or student attempt to clean a chemical spill. Any chemical may have a property of desensitizing your sense of smell so that you will not notice the odor after a few minutes. Chemicals can be dangerous or very toxic when breathed in or absorbed through the skin.
Please take all precautions necessary when dealing with specimens preserved in Formaldehyde or when using this chemical as a part of instruction.
