Photo 10, Beginning Photography
Background
This beginning course in photography is designed for anyone
interested in learning the theory and practice of basic
photography. Emphasis will be placed on helping students learn
to use the 35mm single lens reflex (SLR) camera and the
processing of black and white negatives and prints.
Skills for success
Attendance
Regular attendance is absolutely essential. When absence is
unavoidable, it is the students responsibility to make up
missed work and to retrieve lecture notes. Important!!!! After
the second week of the semester you are responsible for
dropping this class.
Grading
Each student will earn a grade based on the total number or
points received for all assignments, a mid-term and final
examination, and a final project. Attendance and class participation
will also be considered when determining a final
grade.
30% Assignments
20% Mid-term exam
20% final exam
20% Final Project
10% Attendance and class participation
Each assignment will be worth a maximum of 100 points. The mid-term,
final examination and final project will be worth a
maximum of 200 points each.
The following criteria will be used to determine the point value
for each assignment.
1). Does the work fulfill the requirements of the assignment.
2). Technical quality.
3). Creativity.
