Orientation

New students are expected to attend an in-person orientation or complete the online orientation. College life, goal-setting, school policies, procedures, programs of study are presented. Assessment results and recommendations are also discussed. Students will complete a one-semester educational plan and receive instructions on enrollment procedures. Counselors are available for follow-up advisement and assistance by appointment.

Personal Development Courses

All new students are encouraged to take a 1 or 3 unit Personal Development course prior to the completion of 15 semester units at Los Angeles Valley College. These courses teach students how to be successful by utilizing important campus resources, improving their study skills, and designing their long-range educational and career goals.
