The Mission of the LAVC Diversity Committee is to enhance the awareness and skills that create a culture in which diversity is understood, appreciated and respected in actions and attitudes. The committee fosters courtesy, sensitivity and respect for the multitude of differences among faculty, staff and students. (Mission Statement 2009).

Vision Statement

• To provide diversity resources for the Faculty, Staff and Administration at Los Angeles Valley College that lend themselves to a broader understanding of the role diversity plays in educating our unique student population
• To share multicultural perspectives from the numerous affinity groups that exist here at Los Angeles Valley College
• To share best practices from other institutions of higher education on diversity issues
• To open up a dialogue about pressing issues that exist on this campus
