Mission Statement of the Department of Biology

          As a community of scholars, our mission is to promote student learning and critical thinking through an
          understanding of biological principles and scientific methodology; to provide preparation and opportun-
          ities for advanced studies, applied programs and achieving career goals by offering a broad combina-
          tion of courses in the biological sciences that utilize traditional and state-of-art technologies geared for
          all learning styles; to foster curiosity in the diversity of life and appreciation of the role man has on the
          local and global environment; and to guide and encourage students to be life-long learners and apply
          their knowledge in meeting the challenges of the ever changing world in which we live.
