The University of California at Davis, Office of Student Judicial Affairs has an extremely informative site that discusses the topic in depth.

They explain:

• Means and methods for  Avoiding  Plagiarism: "What are the rules? What is plagiarism?"
• What is Unauthorized Collaboration: "When is it okay to work together, and when not"
• and, "What can you do to help prevent cheating and make everyone's academic experience more worthwhile?" is found in the section on Preventing Cheating
