Los Angeles Valley College
Do I need to do anything to set up my account? LAVC students are automatically assigned an account at the beginning of their first semester at LAVC. All you need to do is to go to the Add Value Station in the Campus Center or The Prepaid Printing Kiosk in the LAIR lab to add money to your account.
Will I get a new account number each semester? No. You will only get an account number on your first semester at LAVC.
Do I have to do anything special when I go to print? No. All transactions will be performed and monitored electronically. When you go to print, a pop-up screen will appear giving you instructions.
I lost my card, how can I find my account number? Go to the Student ID window in Admissions and Records. After you identify yourself, they will give you that information.
I think that the magnetic strip on my Student ID doesn't work. What can I do? Go to the Student ID window in Admissions and Records and ask them to test your card. If needed, they will replace it.
At the Add Value Station, it doesn't matter how I put in my card, I get the message "Error card in backwards". What can I do? Go to the Student ID window in Admissions and Records and ask them to test your card. If needed, they will replace it.
At the Printing Release Station and Prepaid Printing Kiosk, after swiping my card, no data is inputted. What can I do? First, ask for help from the lab assistant. You might need to go to the Student ID window in Admissions and Records and ask them to test your card. If needed, they will replace it.
Do password and PIN refer to the same thing? Yes. PIN is another way to say password. It stands for Personal Identification Number.
What is my password? Your password is the same as your UIA password. Read about the UIA System.
Is there any difference if I enter my Prepaid Printing Account number or my UIA username when using the system? No. The system can identify you by either one.
Why my Prepaid Printing username is not the same as my UIA username? If your UIA username has already been taken, a non-standard username will be assigned to you. See list of non-standard usernames.
What if I have a problem with my account when I go to print? Please see the lab assistant. If the printer is not working, you may want to go to another lab to print.
When I click print, the Printing pop up window does not show. What do I do? The Prepaid Printing program might not be running. Look at the bottom right corner of the monitor, if you do not see an icon with the letter "P", let the lab assistant know and use another computer.
What if I do not use up all the money in my printing account during the semester? The money in your account rolls over every semester so you can use it at a later date. However, you will not get any refund if you do not use your balance by the time you leave LAVC.
When I tried to release the print job, the printer/release station in the lab wasn't working. What do I do? You can release the job from another release station in another participating lab.
I printed in a Macintosh lab. Can I release the job in a Windows lab or vice versa? No. Print jobs from a Windows lab can only be released in a Windows lab. The same is true with Macintosh labs.
What if the Add Value Station or Kiosk eats my money or if there is a problem with the machine? Call (800) 479-2313. For refunds, you will be asked for your receipt.
How can I get a cash refund? Cash refunds are not available.
The quality of the print job was not good. What do I do? Take the print outs to the lab assistant, he/she will keep the pages and credit your account for those pages. Then, try printing again.
What should I do if my balance is lower than what I think it should be? Go to the Prepaid Printing Kiosk and check your printing and deposit history.
