WSC Prelims - April 20 at Santa Barbara

LAVC men qualify 4 athletes to the So Cal Prelims.  Vaulters Alex Hamidzadeh ( 2nd) and Austin Allen ( 6th), as well as 10,000m runners Jorge Mendez ( 3rd) and Manuel Gutierrez ( 6th) wiill advance to the So Cal Prelims in San Diego!!

WSC Finals - April 27 at Moorpark

Results

LAVC men finish a strong 8th inconference, as Angel Alcantar wins the Steeple title with a 9:48, Darrell Johnson takes a second
in the 110HH with a time of 15.30!!  Great job Monarchs!!!

Southern California Finals - May 12 at San Diego Mesa College

LAVC men places 15 th in so cal with Alexander Hamidzadeh finishing 3rd in the pole vault

State Finals - May 18 and 19 at Cerritos

Results

Women

L.A.V.C. women's team finished 9th in state out of 41 teams competing at the State championships.
2nd place in 4X100m relay in a time of 46.79 behind State Champion Laney College who ran 45.14.  Chiza Eze managed 8th finish in the long jump before sustaining a quad injury during the 100m finals with a jump of 17'03".  Alva Castillo finished 2nd in the 400m with a personal best of 54.47, and finish 3rd in the 200m with another personal best of 24.19 behind Laney's top two sprinters who finished 1-2 with a state record time of 22.86 and 23.85.  Molly Pearlman finished her season with 3rd place fininsh in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 3.50 meters.  All-in-all the lady Monarchs produced 5 community college All-Americans for the 2012 season and had the second highest team finish in the state meet out of the Western State Conference teams, behing distance powerhouse Glendale College who finished 4th overall.

Men

On the men side.  LAVC 's Angel Alcantar places 6th in the 3000m steeplechase
with a 9:42 and Alexander Hamidzadeh 6th in the pole vault!!
