Dr. Carole Yee was appointed Dean of Curriculum in January, 2007. The Dean of Curriculum, one of four deans in Academic Affairs, supervises the production of the session course schedules and the LAVC catalog. The departments and programs reporting to the Dean of Curriculum are Foreign Languages, General Tutoring, English, Philosophy and Economics, Psychology and Developmental Communications, Sociology and Ethnic Studies, Chemistry and Physics, the Library, the Transfer Alliance Program (TAP) and the Puente Program.


Background

Dr. Carole Yee joined LAVC from New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, where she served as Professor of English in the Department of Humanities and as Associate Vice President and Dean of Students in Academic Affairs. She earned her Ph.D. in Victorian Studies from the University of New Mexico Department of English. Her work in Victorian Studies focused on the later novels of George Eliot. In addition to Victorian Studies, Dr. Yee has worked and published in the fields of Technical Communication and Contemporary American Drama. She has been awarded two Fulbright Fellowships, the first to London, England (1981-1982) and the second in the Department of English at the University of Bergen, Norway (1985-1986). Dr. Carole Yee is delighted to have joined the administration, faculty, and students at Los Angeles Valley College in helping to provide outstanding educational opportunities and life-long learning to its constituents.
